Bulwell burglary suspect appears in court also charged with fraud, weapon possession and assaulting a police officer

Officers were called to Hetherset Gardens in Bulwell following reports someone’s home had been burgled.

A bank card and electrical items were taken from inside the property at some point between 4pm and 7.30pm on October 29.

An attempt was made to buy items using the card at a nearby shop later that evening, with the homeowner returning the following day to find they’d been burgled.

Suspect Marcus Wilson was arrested for the burglary on November 1 with police discovering a knuckleduster while carrying out a search of his home.

Two police officers were then later assaulted.

Wilson, 31, of Andover Road, Bestwood, has since been charged with burglary, fraud by false representation, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and assaulting an emergency worker.

He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on November 3 where he was released on conditional bail.

He is due to attend the same court for trial on January 19.

Detective Sergeant Simon Carter, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Burglary is an incredibly invasive crime that can sadly leave people feeling unsafe within the walls of their own homes.

“This is completely unacceptable, with this particular incident understandably leaving the victim distressed.

“As a force we’re committed to stopping incidents of this nature from happening, which is why we have two specialist teams of detectives focusing on burglary cases.

“The public should rest assured that our officers are working tirelessly to prosecute these offenders and to ensure incidents such as this become rarer and rarer within our communities.”
